For 5 years, the Hack3D competition at the CSAW Cybersecurity Games and Conference has been raising awareness and generating discussion in engineering and research communities about security issues in the additive manufacturing field. Competitors are given a chance to learn and use skills in graphics programming, file manipulation, and reverse engineering, while gaining a better understanding of the additive manufacturing supply-chain.
This year’s event kicks-off online on October 12 and13, and is open to any students, undergraduate or graduate, interested in learning more about CAD, reverse-engineering, security, and additive manufacturing. Participants compete in teams that can be from different institutions and of different majors/concentrations. The five top contestants from this preliminary round will go on to the Hack3D competition at CSAW Cybersecurity Games and Conference on November 7 and 8.
