How to Apply:

Students that meet the requirements for the scholarship may apply online by following these steps:

  •   Send an email to to let us know you intend to apply.
  •   Review all the information on the DoD Cyber Scholarship Program website. Application instructions and materials are detailed on this site.
  • Create an account online with the DoD Cyber Scholarship Program and begin the application process. Documents that will need to be submitted include official transcripts, resume, honors and awards, two (2) letters of recommendation, and a competency statement. Please read all information and instructions for application preparation before you begin.

Deadline to apply for the DoD Scholarship at NYU is February 1, 2023 at 11:59 PM ET.

Once in the program:

  •   Students selected as DoD CySP Scholars will receive the full cost of tuition, books (from the institution/degree specific required book list, not books which are optional for the class), required fees (including institutionally provided health care), a one-time laptop/computer purchase, travel support to attend a cyber-related conference, and a stipend to cover room and board.
  •   Students will sign a written agreement obligating you to work for the Department of Defense, as a civilian employee, for one calendar year for each year of scholarship assistance
  •   If timing permits, students will serve in internship positions with DoD organizations during the time they are receiving scholarship support
  • Students will agree to a security/background investigation (for internships and future DoD employment). Drug tests or other suitability processing will occur as appropriate.
  •   Students must maintain good academic standing: 3.2 out of 4.0 GPA (undergraduates); 3.5 out of a 4.0 GPA (graduates)
