The rapid growth of the additive manufacturing (AM) field is opening exciting new opportunities in a number of fields. However, the hybrid nature of AM—part cyber system and part physical system—along with its extensive use of computer and cloud-based resources, introduces new vectors for attacks.
Organized by Tandon faculty members Dr. Nikhil Gupta and Dr. Ramesh Karri, the workshop will bring together industry and academic experts in the field of additive manufacturing security who will share insights on current and future challenges in this field, including best defenses against sabotage and intellectual property theft. Speakers include Don Jones of Carlisle and Co., Nektarios Tsoutsos of the University of Delaware, and Ramesh Karri of NYU Tandon.

The July 31 workshop is the first in a series of four workshops dealing with critical issues in manufacturing. The second is scheduled for August 24, and will deal with increasing diversity in the cyber-physical systems workforces.
