Joseph Bonneau

Associate Professor of Computer Science

Joseph Bonneau is an Associate Professor in the Computer Science Department of New York University’s Courant Institute. He holds BS and MS degrees from Stanford, and completed a PhD as a Gates Cambridge Scholar at the University of Cambridge (UK) in 2012, under the supervision of Professor Ross Anderson. Bonneau also completed postdoctoral fellowships at Princeton and Stanford, and at the Electronic Frontier Foundation. With a research focus on applied cryptography and security engineering, Bonneau has pursued projects in human authentication, secure messaging tools, blockchains and decentralized systems, and public randomness protocols. He is also the co-author of the popular textbook Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency Technologies
