Sponsored by the NYU Center for Cybersecurity and AIG, this session will focus on all the reasons why data science is fundamental to building a successful and mature cyber security program. In particular we’ll discuss two ways to use data science fundamentals in cyber security programs: to improve data analytics supporting cybersecurity programs (KPIs, risk management, process effectiveness), and to use model-driven security and real-time data streaming to match data attributes to known patterns. The result of such a process will be deviation scores with a threshold that can trigger automated actions in front-line cyber controls in just milliseconds
The lecture will be presented by Jim Routh, Security & Risk Advisor, Board Member, and Former Risk Leader at MassMutual, Aetna, JP Morgan Chase, KPMG, DTCC, and American Express.
Following the lecture, a panel of cybersecurity experts will offer their own perspectives on how data science can support cybersecurity strategies, and influence talent development.
The panelists are:
Sara Hall, Deputy CISO and Head of Security, Operations & Engineering, MassMutual
Damon McCoy, Associate Professor of Computer Science and Engineering, NYU Tandon School of Engineering
David Ritenour, CISO and Risk Professional
Chenxi Wang, CEO, Rain Capital
Rich Baich, Senior Vice President, Chief Information Security Officer, at AIG, will give the opening remarks, and NYU Tandon Dean Jelena Kovačević will welcome everyone to the program.
