Julia B. Kieserman, a Computer Science Ph.D. Candidate at NYU Tandon, is interested in understanding how technology systems might impact human autonomy. Under the guidance of her advisor, Dr. Damon McCoy, she most recently worked on measuring the configuration of trackers on sensitive websites—a project that won Kieserman and her colleagues the 2025 Andreas Pfitzmann Best Student Paper Award at the Privacy Enhancing Technologies Symposium (PETS) in Washington, DC. She has also studied the way users and content creators engage with the Character.AI platform. Prior to her time in academia, Kieserman worked as a software engineer in both the technology and non-profit sectors.
