The World Police Summit, hosted by the Dubai Police and held from May 13-15 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, brought together some 53,000 law enforcement professionals, policymakers, industry leaders, and innovators from more than 110 countries. Attendees heard talks from more than 300 globally renowned speakers.
On the second day of the conference, representatives from the NYU School of Law and NYU Abu Dhabi’s Center for Cyber Security organized and presented a full-day exploration of the topic “AI: Crime, Security and International Regulation.” Organized into three panel discussions and a keynote address, the conference offered an in-depth discussion of the evolving role of artificial intelligence at the intersection of crime, technology, and international regulation.
The panel topics addressed included the role of AI in crime fighting and national security, and the regulatory requirements anticipated in the wake of Europe’s AI Act, which went into effect earlier this year. Speakers included current and former representatives from government agencies, along with academics, attorneys, and representatives from industry. The program also included a keynote address by First Lieutenant Rashid Ahmed Lootah, Head of the Artificial Intelligence Crimes Section of the Dubai Police.
The workshop concluded with a commitment to continued collaboration between NYU Abu Dhabi and the Dubai Police. In summarizing the workshop on the official conference Instagram page, organizers complemented the “insightful discussions, academic rigor, and forward-thinking ideas,” of the session and marked it as a standout moment on this year’s agenda.
