While the doors to our COVID-19 quarantine are beginning to open, it is likely people will continue to do much of their shopping online. To avoid a a future “cyber pandemic,” CompareCards, a credit card service of the Lending Tree loan company, asked NYU Tandon Associate Professor Justin Cappos to provide some tips for more secure shopping. Cappos shared some good “cyber hygiene” practices, starting with not allowing our understandable desire to learn more aboutthe virus to trick us in to opening malicious documents. “Psychologically, when people are frightened, they may make poor choices,” Cappos observes, adding that “these attacks are trying to capitalize on this.” Read more of Cappos’ secure online shopping tips here.
