Santiago Torres-Arias, who successfully defended for his doctoral degree in May 2020, has received the 2020 Pearl Brownstein Doctoral Research Award from the NYU Tandon Department of Computer Science and Engineering. The award is given each year to PhD students in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering whose doctoral research shows the greatest promise.
Torres-Arias’ thesis focused on securing the lifecycle of software projects. As a member of the Secure Systems Lab under the direction of Associate Professor Justin Cappos, he served as lead developer on the in-toto framework for securing software supply chain, and contributed to a number of other projects, including The Update Framework (TUF). He will begin a faculty position with Purdue University in the fall.
