Study finds “Backdoors” and other vulnerabilities in more than 12K Android Apps

A team of academics from Europe and the U.S., including CCS faculty member Brendan Dolan-Gavitt, created and used a tool called InputScope to conduct the study. They found a variety of mechanisms that could give attackers access to users’ accounts, and even allow them to run code on the device with elevated privileges.
