DESCRIPTION:Friday is competition day across the CSAW landscape\, with all five event sites running a variety of competitions testing skill in both attacking and defending computer software and hardware. \nIn Brooklyn\, the competitions will include the Embedded Security Challenge\, Hack 3D\, Logic Locking\, and the Policy Competition\, and the debut of two new competitions. The Fuzzing Competition\, also known as the Securing Open Source Software Competition and hosted by ForAllSecure\, is designed to teach students how to use fuzz testing to find security exploits in open source software. The AI vs Humans competition is a hardware security challenge contest that centers around defeating artificial intelligence (AI)-based tools developed for hardware security. \nIn addition to the NYU Center for Cybersecurity\, CSAW competitions for the US-Canada site are organized by the NYU Center for Global Affairs (Policy Competition)\, NYU Tandon Dept. of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering (Hack3D Competition)\, and the University of Delaware Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (Embedded Security Challenge). \nThe Abu Dhabi site\, headquarters for the Middle East North Africa region events\, will also introduce a new competition on this day as well. The Hack My Robot Challenge aims to “raise awareness about the cybersecurity aspects of increasingly digitalized construction environments with a particular focus on robotics.” Participants are asked to compromise the data and operations of a given robotic system considering the characteristics of construction sites. This challenge is organized by the S.M.A.R.T. Construction Research Group\, with the support of the Center for Cybersecurity (CCS) and the Center for AI and Robotics (CAIR) at NYUAD. \nThe European site at Grenoble INP – Esisar in Valence\, France.will host four competitions\, including a Red Team competition for high school students. The CSAW India site at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur will host three competitions virtually\, while CSAW Mexico at Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City will host two online competitions. \n  \n​

SUMMARY:Hack  3D Summer Challenge and Symposium
DESCRIPTION:The final round of the Hack3D Summer Challenge will be the centerpiece of a special symposium examining the “growth of the new area of digital manufacturing” to be held Friday\, July 15 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.EDT.  Framing presentations from the competition finalists\, which will begin at 11 a.m.\, will be talks by a number of academic and industry leaders in the field\, including: \nHyunwoong Ko (Arizona State University) \nNikolaus L. These new techniques for product design and implementation can enable rapid prototyping\, more complex part details\, simplification of product assemblies\, and reduction in part tooling. DESCRIPTION:The 18th Annual CSAW Cybersecurity Games and Conference begins five days of individual and team competitions\, research presentations\, plenary talks\, and industry interactions. Opening day events include the opening of the Industry Fair\,  and a preview of the presentations from the 2021 Applied Research Competition on display in poster form. Participating companies in the Industry Fair will include all the CSAW sponsors listed below. \nDr. Martin Otto\, head of the Cybersecurity Research Group for Siemens Technology\, will deliver the keynote address at noon\, followed by a presentation from Dr. Johann Knechtel\, a research scientist with the Design for Excellence Lab at  NYU Abu Dhabi. Knechtel’s talk will describe the challenging supply chain security issues in the design and production of integrated circuits. In particular\, he will address how proactively hardening the IC design can hinder adversarial activities that may occur later on in the supply chain. \nLater in the afternoon\,  Dr. Siddharth Garg\, an Institute Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at NYU Tandon\, and  Dr. Sundeep Rangan\, the associate director of NYU Wireless\, will lead a talk on Security Challenges in 5G Wireless and Beyond. The 5G session will be followed by a presentation about the growing practice of utilizing artificial intelligence-based systems to automatically generate computer code delivered by Dr. Hammond Pearce\, a post-doctoral research associate with the NYU Center for Cybersecurity. \nClosing out the first day of the competition will be the presentation of this year’s Cyber Journalism Award.
